Additional Energy Assistance Funds Available

Additional Energy Assistance Available

Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) has received additional state and federal funding to support Hood River County residents who have been financially impacted by the pandemic. This special funding is available to help with your electric bill or housing expenses, even if you have already received energy assistance this year. This opportunity is available to HREC members beginning July 1 and provides $500 to $1,500 in additional assistance outside of our regular programs. Funding is limited; call MCCAC at (541) 386-4027 beginning July 1 to see if you qualify.

MCCAC is making it easy to qualify for assistance. If you received funds in this past year, or if you are receiving Social Security, Unemployment, or Food Stamps, you are automatically qualified. If you are experiencing a financial hardship due to the pandemic, you are likely to qualify. Income requirements have been relaxed to provide assistance to those whose income is above the normal guidelines. The MCCAC office is expecting many more new applicants that may have not been in this position of need before. They are expecting high call volumes so call early and check back often, until you reach them.  Leave a message if you are unable to make repeated calls - they will return all messages.

If you are facing difficulty paying your electric bill, we encourage you to call MCCAC to learn more about this special energy assistance. And, please stay in touch with our office. You will be responsible for paying for the services you use from us, but we will work with you to help you get caught back up.  Please call (541) 354-1233 or email our billing department to discuss making payment arrangements.
